Changed an iPhone 16 Pro screen — now everything is gone?

Has anyone else had this happen? I replaced the screen on an iPhone 16 Pro. Before the repair, the phone had the customer’s photos, apps and everything on it.

After fitting the new screen and turning it on, it came up with the “Hello” setup screen. It looks like everything has been removed. I didn’t intentionally erase or restore the phone.

Could this have something to do with an iOS update? I’ve heard people mention iOS 26 or 27, but I don’t know which version this phone was running. Anyone seen something similar after a screen change?
